Accomplishments to Date
Neighborhood Residents Come Together for Bike & Hike
Fairfax County Police Bike Patrol came out to support our neighorhood at our Bike & Hike this summer. Police distributed free children's bike helmets and conducted bike saftey inspections too. People got to know our local officers, took a guided tour along Frog Branch Creek, and enjoyed free hot dogs, snacks, hula contest and face painnting, supported by the Brookfield Civic Association. Thanks to Bonni for organizing!
Free Child Fingerprinting & Property Marking Programs
On November 21, 2009, BCA held two free programs for crime prevention and public safety - (1) free child fingerprinting, and (2) free property engraving/marking. These programs were held at the Brookfield Regional Library, and were very successufl - over 70 children were fingerprinted and 45 were also photographed, and their parents took home the fingerprint cards and photos to be used if necessary at some point in the future.
The police indicated that this was the best turnout for a fingerprinting event ever. If you came out to participate, thank you! Also, special thanks to the four local Fairfax County police offers who volunteered their time and effort, including our new Sully District Station Crime Prevention Officer, Brett Katinsky
Finally, thanks are extended to Mary Mosher for coordinating and working this project, and to Terrie Koustenis, Russell Mosher, Margie Wheedleton, Shelley Leeds, and Larry Leeds, who volunteered their time, energy, effort, and equipment.
Traffic Light Installed and Operational
The traffic signal installation at Lees Corner Road and Poplar Tree Road is complete. Thanks to Delegate Chuck Caputo and Susan Southworth for their support of BCA efforts in moving this project along.
